The Bluntautal in Salzburg is a picturesque hiking area, known for its stunning Blue Tausee lakes. The turquoise-blue lakes and the impressive mountain backdrop make the valley a perfect destination for nature lovers and photographers. Swimming is not allowed here. A well-maintained hiking trail runs through the valley, offering numerous viewpoints and resting spots.
A hidden gem in the Bluntautal: discover the secret Bluntau Waterfall at the western end of the valley. Early mornings or late evenings are the best times to avoid the crowds and enjoy the tranquility of nature. I recommend bringing a picnic and relaxing at one of the quieter spots along the lake. Take the opportunity to try a short Kneipp therapy at two spots along the trail, by dipping your arms and feet into the cold water – it promotes circulation and refreshes you for the rest of the hike. The walk along the Torrenerbach is also especially beautiful, where the sound of rushing water and moss-covered stones create a picturesque backdrop.
The hike through Bluntautal to the Blautauseen takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace and breaks. The trail is well-maintained and easy to walk, making it a pleasant experience even for less experienced hikers.
The hiking trail in Bluntautal is considered easy. With only slight inclines, it is suitable for all age groups and fitness levels. The well-maintained paths and numerous resting spots make it perfect for relaxed hikes and family outings.
The best time to visit Bluntautal is from spring to autumn. In spring, nature blooms, and the temperatures are pleasant. Summer brings lush greenery and clear lakes, while autumn offers a colorful display of leaves. In winter, the paths are often snow-covered and less accessible.
Bluntautal is easily accessible by both car and public transport. By car, it’s best to take the A10 and park at the hiking parking lot in Golling. If you’re using public transport, take the train to Golling-Abtenau and then a bus towards Bluntautal. The parking lot is just a short walk from the starting point of the hike.
