The Postalm is Austria’s largest alpine pasture area and offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. It is ideal for hiking and cycling tours. The Postalm Panoramic Road connects Abtenau with Strobl and leads through breathtaking scenery!
Visit the Postalm in the early morning hours to experience the sunrise – the lighting is perfect for photos. It can get crowded on weekends, so visiting during the week is recommended. Make a stop at the Lienbachalm to try homemade pastries, traditional roast pork, or Wiener Schnitzel, all lovingly prepared with regional ingredients.
A hike on the Postalm takes between 1 and 4 hours, depending on the chosen route. Short walks are just as possible as longer tours. For a leisurely hike to the summit of Pitschenberg, plan about 2 hours.
The hiking trails on the Postalm are mostly easy to moderate and therefore suitable even for inexperienced hikers. There are well-marked paths with gentle ascents and varied landscapes. Sturdy footwear is still recommended.
The best time to visit the Postalm Panoramic Road is from May to October. In spring and summer, the alpine meadows are in full bloom, and the temperatures are pleasant. Autumn offers a colorful backdrop, while the road may be closed in winter.
The best way to reach the Postalm Panoramic Road is by car. Parking is available and well signposted. Please note that a toll fee is charged for using the road.
