The hike up the Zwölferhorn near Lake Wolfgang is a popular tour for hiking enthusiasts. As a local, I recommend bringing coins, as the fee for the road to the parking lot at the Lärchenhütte can only be paid in cash. It’s best to start early in the morning to avoid the crowds of tourists using the cable car. Along the way, several viewpoints invite you to take short breaks and enjoy the spectacular scenery. Alternatively, you can also take the cable car comfortably to the Zwölferhorn and enjoy the magnificent panoramic view at the top.
Duration
The hike takes about 3 to 4 hours for the ascent and return, depending on your pace and breaks. Be sure to allow enough time to fully enjoy the landscape and the views.
Difficulty
The hike is moderately difficult and requires good basic fitness and sure-footedness. Some sections are steep, but the paths are well-marked and maintained, making the hike suitable for less experienced walkers as well.
