Visit the Nockstein at sunset – the colors are spectacular! Since the Nockstein is quite popular, it can get crowded during the day. Early in the morning or later in the evening, you often have the summit almost to yourself and can enjoy the peace and quiet.
The hike to Nockstein takes about 1 hour for the round trip. The ascent is relatively short but steep, with plenty of beautiful photo opportunities along the way.
The hike to Nockstein is moderately difficult. The trail is well-marked and leads steeply uphill. Surefootedness and basic fitness are required, especially for the final ascent to the summit.
The best time for a hike to Nockstein is from May to October. During these months, the paths are snow-free, and the temperatures are pleasant.
The starting point of the hike is in Koppl. You can reach the parking lot best by car via the Wolfgangsee Road (B158).
