Goldegger Lake

Goldegger Lake in Salzburg is an idyllic swimming lake with a wonderful view of Goldegg Castle. Here, you can swim in the clear water, go stand-up paddleboarding, or simply take a relaxing walk around the lake. The view of Goldegg Castle and the beautiful nature around it make the lake a perfect spot for a break.

Insider tips

Visit Goldegger Lake early in the morning or late in the afternoon to fully enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Pack a picnic and enjoy the nature. From the shore and especially from the castle park, you have the best view of Goldegg Castle. For SUP board fans: From the water, you get a particularly beautiful view of the entire scene. Don’t worry, the lake is rarely crowded.

Duration

A walk around Goldegg Lake takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. The loop is well-signposted and takes you through a stunning landscape. The duration may vary depending on breaks and photo stops.

Difficulty

The loop around Goldegg Lake is easy and suitable for all age groups. The well-maintained path is mostly flat, making it ideal for families and less experienced hikers. Comfortable shoes are still recommended.

Season

In summer, Goldegg Lake is especially inviting when the water is warm and you can swim or go stand-up paddleboarding. Autumn is also a great time to enjoy the colorful nature around the lake. No matter when you visit, the lake is always worth a trip.

Getting there

You can easily reach Goldegg Lake by car, with plenty of parking available nearby. Alternatively, you can take the train to Schwarzach-St. Veit and then take the bus to Goldegg. From the town, it's just a few minutes on foot to the lake.
