As a local, I recommend avoiding the hike to the Tappenkar Waterfall too early in spring or too late in autumn, as the paths can still be snow-covered and slippery. The best time for this hike is from June to September when the paths are easily accessible, and the waterfall is at its most spectacular. Be sure to wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring enough water. The Tappenkar Waterfall offers many great photo opportunities, so don’t forget your camera. After the waterfall, don’t miss the short walk to Tappenkarsee, where you can stop at the Tappenkarseehütte for a break.

Duration

The hike to the Tappenkar Waterfall takes about three to four hours for the round trip, depending on your pace and breaks. Plan for around five hours to fully enjoy the landscape and surroundings at a leisurely pace. If you continue on to Tappenkarsee, the hike will take an additional hour.

Difficulty

The hike is of moderate difficulty and requires good basic fitness and sure-footedness. The trail is well-marked, but some sections can be steep and slippery, so sturdy hiking boots are recommended.
